SWISS PLATELET GEL LIFE

PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma) is an autologous blood product that promotes tissue regeneration by releasing topically the growth factors contained in the platelets of which PRP is rich. PRP is obtained by collecting peripheral blood from the patient, then a centrifugation phase follows to accelerate the separation of components with a different density and finally the division between plasma and corpuscular components of blood, mainly made of red blood cells, occurs. The interface between the red phase (red blood cells) and the yellow phase (plasma) is represented by a thin ring containing leukocytes. The plasma which is in the upper phase is mainly made of water, proteins and the lightest cellular components such as the platelets. 

The centrifugation occurs in tubes that might contain some separating gel that facilitates the separation and the recovery of plasma. After centrifugation, plasma contains the platelets that are the source of the growth factors that stimulate the tissue regeneration. The effect of regenera–tion depends on the concentration of platelets in PRP, therefore it is useful to concentrate the obtained plasma by the ProtSmartTM device which removes plasmatic water.

The application or the local infiltration of PRP is useful in several therapeutic fields and has no side effects because plasma has an autologous derivation and consequently it is well tolerated by the patient.

Thanks to a morpho–logy of a properly developed capillary membrane with an average pore size of 15,000 Da, it is possible to eliminate the plasma water, therefore concentrating on the platelets and the growth factors of the plasma. 

A fast, easy and optimized process that only needs one centrifugal phase aimed at the sedimentation of red blood cells, which are later eliminated. PRP and PPP can be concentrated by ProtSmartTM with a volume reduction of about 70%. 

Most plasma proteins that have an important role in promoting regeneration are preserved and concentrated, thanks to the cut-off of capillary membranes.

Application fields

PRP

Autologous Cellular Regeneration (ACR) is an injective technique of biostimulation based on the use of autologous plasma enriched with bioactive platelets and leukocytes (white blood cells), named PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma), to regenerate aged and damaged skin and hypotrophic tissues.

The PRP is especially used for cellular renewal with several molecules variously involved in the stimulation of cells proliferation and maturation, inflammatory process modulation and the activation of other cells by regulating tissue hemostasis and regenerative processes.
The process begins with an initial inflammatory phase, followed by a chemotactic cells recall second phase and finally by a third phase with release of growth factors.

What is PRP ?

PRP is a source of growth factors that support the regeneration of soft tissues (skin, sub-dermis, myofascial tissues), stimulating and improving the body’s natural response to biological damages and favouring their healing process.
It is obtained by concentrating the autologous platelets (i.e. coming from patient itself) and by deriving from them the platelet growth factors (Platelet Derived Growth Factors), more than a hundred, for tissues rejuvenation and remodeling as well as for wound healing enhancement.

PRP in aesthetics

The use of PRP (and the growth factors contained therein) is dedicated to the reconstructive plastic surgery and cosmetic medicine, such as antiaging and regenerative medicine.
In particular, very promising seems to be a new lipofilling tecnique associated with the infiltration of autologous platelet gel enriched with Hyaluronic Acid (HA).

Is PRP safe ?

Being autologous (i.e. coming from the patient itself), PRP allows to avoid the risk of diseases such as HIV and viral hepatitis.

How do we get platelet-enriched plasma?

The technique is simple and painless:

  1. a collection of 12 ml of whole blood is made from the patient;

  2. the blood is centrifuged (by using approved and certified equipments) in order to separate red and white blood cells from the liquid part, where the platelets are located, by adding a special solution causing the breakage of the platelets. This process generates the release of the Alpha granules contained therein.

  3. then a doctor proceeds to intradermal injection by using a very small 4 mm needle, with small wheals in the area to be treated.

A very modest pain can be experienced in the 24 hours following the treatment.

Benefits will be felt in 3-4 weeks after the treatment and will continue in the following months.
The treatment can be repeated in the future depending on the way the patient takes care of his own skin.

Growth factors in trichology

The growth factors from platelet-rich plasma are widely used to improve the metabolism of hair. The treatment, performed thru intradermal infiltration of PRP in the scalp, can produce a significant increasing of the percentage of the anagen phase in androgenic alopecia, a thickening of the area in alopecia areata and above all an evident improvement of the conditions and appearance of hair in the case of dystrophic hair.

Technically, treatment is an injection of PRP and extracellular matrix proteins (both taken from the patient itself), performed after stimulating the scalp.
